The last days of the UK as we know it.

I took this photo of the city of London from a train before Boris devalues it.

Today I’m drinking beer. That’s very weird in itself. If it wasn’t for the wonderful Mexican people I wouldn’t be drinking it at all. Incidentally I think it would be appropriate to drown Donald Trump in a vat of Pacifico cerveza!!

It feels a bit like the end of the world today or at least the end of summer. At lunchtime I was swimming in the wild and wonderful Sussex sea. The sun came out to warm me, but I felt she was probably saying goodbye until next year. Calendar wise, September begins tomorrow and I consider that to be an Autumn month.

This afternoon I was songwriting and watching Wales versus Ireland rugby Union at the same time. I was working on a chorus with the word ‘love’ in it 3 times – now there’s a turn up for the books!

(It was not a rugby song.)

One of my treats at the weekend is to be able to read the papers right through during an extended breakfast time. There’s a lot going on in the news! The absolutely farcical UK political situation would be funny if it didn’t have serious implications.

Middle-class first world climate change campaigners have finally realised that people outside the liberal bubble don’t care a f*** about burning down half the Amazon forest. It is in fact the policy that the new President campaigned on! It’s going to take a lot more than separating rubbish, driving hydrogen cars and stopping animals farting to save the world.

Also, if I was a betting man I would put money on forceful Chinese intervention in Hong Kong within the next 3 months. All the rules have changed. Hey, I’m still drinking beer – These must be very desperate times!
